Those memories shine because it happened at a time when you emitted light.
Didn’t have to be the greatest nor the most beautiful
Yet they are a reflection of your soul back then
Gripping on to youth and freedom.
What I can’t relate though is the aftermath of things that made you change.
How they carved scars inside you, causing your light to fade.
Years later your carry those bags, and sometimes when you look at me
in the dark
I cried because you didn’t specify
I’m glad we went down to the root of it all
I understand you better now.
I won’t replace that spot because her memories come with your youth and innocence.
But I can take up the other spots, and the rest of the spots in your heart.
You once said you’re so damaged there’s nothing in your heart left to give.
I beg to differ.
I assume there are storage rooms, and garages, and a whole lot more rooms in your heart
You’ve not used for so long you’ve forgotten their existence.
It’s not happening all at once.
But we’re going to have to go slowly
And one by one, little by little,
We’ll open up those doors together.
Your hurts are healed
Your fears are gone.
With God all things are possible.
Matthew 19:26 “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
